💼 About the Role
As Director of Finance & Investment, you will be a key member of our leadership team during a critical growth phase. You'll lead our seed fundraising efforts, develop investor relationships, and build the financial infrastructure needed to scale from 18M to 100M+ lives under care.
This role combines strategic finance, investor relations, and operational excellence. You'll work directly with our CEO, CFO (Everlyn Ndirangu), and leadership team to secure funding, manage investor communications, and drive financial performance that attracts top-tier investors and partners.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Investor Relations
- Lead $5M Seed Round: Manage the entire fundraising process from investor identification to term sheet negotiation and closing
- Investor Pipeline Development: Build and maintain relationships with VCs, angels, family offices, and strategic investors aligned with our healthcare mission
- Investment Materials: Create and refine pitch decks, financial models, data rooms, and investor presentations
- Due Diligence Management: Coordinate investor due diligence, prepare materials, and manage Q&A processes
- Investor Communications: Develop quarterly updates, board materials, and ongoing investor relationship management
- Strategic Partnerships: Identify and cultivate relationships with strategic corporate investors and potential M&A partners
Financial Strategy & Planning
- Financial Modeling: Build and maintain 3-statement models, cap tables, scenario analyses, and fundraising projections
- Business Planning: Partner with leadership to develop strategic plans, OKRs, and financial targets
- Budget Management: Support CFO in annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and variance analysis
- Metrics & KPIs: Define and track key business metrics (CAC, LTV, burn rate, runway, unit economics)
- Valuation Analysis: Conduct competitive analyses, market research, and valuation assessments
Corporate Development
- Market Research: Track healthcare AI market trends, competitive landscape, and investment activity
- Partnership Evaluation: Assess potential partnerships, pilots, and commercial opportunities
- M&A Support: Evaluate acquisition opportunities and manage acquisition processes (when applicable)
- Board Materials: Prepare board decks, financial reports, and strategic presentations
Team Development
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Work with engineering, sales, clinical, and operations teams to align financial strategy with business goals
- Process Building: Establish scalable financial processes and systems for rapid growth
- Team Expansion: Eventually hire and mentor finance and investor relations team members
✅ Qualifications
Required Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in investment banking, venture capital, private equity, corporate development, or startup finance
- Proven track record of successfully raising $5M+ in venture capital funding
- Deep understanding of startup fundraising processes, term sheets, and cap table management
- Strong financial modeling skills (3-statement models, DCF, scenario analysis)
- Excellent Excel/Google Sheets proficiency and experience with financial planning tools
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills with experience pitching to investors
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field (MBA or CFA preferred)
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in healthcare, digital health, or health tech startups
- Background in AI/ML companies or technology-enabled healthcare services
- Network of healthcare-focused VCs, angels, and strategic investors
- Experience with Series A/B fundraising processes
- Prior work with remote or distributed teams
- Understanding of value-based care, PMPM models, and healthcare reimbursement
- Experience working with Stanford, Cornell, Harvard, or other top research institutions
